Albany hands Pirates surprising first loss of the season

When asked about how her team needs to improve after their blowout win against Wagner on Friday night, Seton Hall interim head coach Lauren DeFalco said that the team must improve their overall defense. In DeFalco’s eyes, a poor shooting day was bound to come, but even she could not predict that day would be their next game.

Seton Hall crushes Wagner in second game of the season

Despite a 47-point win against St. Peter’s on Tuesday, interim head coach Lauren DeFalco still saw major room for improvement for the Pirates to make prior to their next game. When the Wagner Seahawks strolled into the historic Walsh Gymnasium on Seton Hall’s campus on Friday, they would have no clue what hit them.

Seton Hall handed comprehensive third loss of the season by No. 21 Oregon

With the opportunity to make amends for last season’s loss to No. 21 University of Oregon, the Seton Hall men’s basketball team sputtered on the court again. The Pirates started the match slow, allowing Oregon to go on a 9-0 run after Myles Cale opened the match with a three-point shot and struggling to get Sandro Mamukelashvili involved in the game.

Pirates bounce back with resounding win over Iona

Not all surprises in college sports are good surprises, but the last-minute arrangement of Seton Hall’s game against Iona on Monday night was a pleasant one for Kevin Willard and the Pirates. While it served as another good tune-up ahead of their Big East schedule in December, it also provided Willard with the opportunity to get a nice 86-64 win over his old mentor, Rick Pitino, in the Pirates’ home-opener at the Prudential Center.

Three takeaways from women’s basketball Big East media day

UConn head coach Geno Auriemma and two of his star players, Preseason Freshman of the Year Paige Bueckers and Preseason Player of the Year Christyn Williams, stole the show in the Huskies’ first Big East media day back in the conference. Tony Bozzella and the Seton Hall Pirates flew under the radar, but that does not mean there was not a ton to take away in anticipation of the upcoming season.
