Phyllis Mangina will step down as head coach of the women's basketball team, as announced by Athletics Director Joe Quinlan early Monday evening.
Junior forward Robert Mitchell has been removed from the men's basketball team effective immediately.

The women's basketball team will play Syracuse for the second time this season on Friday, when they meet in the first round of the Big East Tournament.
The Pirates NCAA Tournament hopes are all but gone after losing to the Marquette Golden Eagles 84-83 in overtime. With the loss the Hall now stands in place in the Big East with a record of 7-9 in conference and 16-11 overall.
The Pirates lost their fifth straight game as they were defeated by Louisville last night at Walsh Gymnasium, 72-49. This set the team to a record of 1-13 in the Big East.
With Selection Sunday looming, the Pirates have one more chance to add a key win to their tournament resume before the Big East Championships with their game against Marquette at noon on Sunday at Prudential Center.
