President Esteban addresses impending departure to DePaul

The initial statement by DePaul that Esteban had accepted the position as president of the Chicago-based Catholic university, took students and faculty by surprise.
Seton Hall’s freshman retention rate has been steadily increasing from 2010 to 2015, with 85 percent of freshmen retained in 2015, according to College Factual’s website.
Even though there has been recent speculation about altering this year’s commencement ceremony plans, Seton Hall sent out an email on Tuesday, Feb. 7 that graduation will be broken down into three separate ceremonies and will be held in the Richard and Sheila Regan Fieldhouse in the University’s Recreation Center.
The Student Government Association (SGA) has approved a resolution in response to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
On Monday, Jan. 30, Seton Hall students, administrators and alumni joined legislators on campus to introduce the Campus Fire Safety Education Act.
On Jan. 19, Seton Hall released a statement that said the school’s graduate employment rate has risen to 90 percent.
The new Trump Administration, inaugurated just last week, has Seton Hall officials concerned for the future of the Federal Pell Grant Program.
The pledge by Seton Hall and the other institutions comes in response to the election of President-elect Donald Trump, who has promised in his first 100 days in office to “immediately terminate” Obama’s executive actions on immigration.
A joint admission program established for pre-law and law students attending Seton Hall and Iona College has been created in order to enhance recruitment for both institutions.
Kohaut was retired but had previously worked as an accounting clerk for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Newark, according to her online obituary on Legacy.com. The endowment was made in memory of Kohaut’s entire family, but the gift was dedicated to the College of Nursing because her sister Elizabeth graduated from there in 1949, according to SHU’s website.
In a recent interview with The Setonian, Dr. Joan Guetti, senior associate provost, said she understood that students are upset. However, she added, “There is a very practical situation that is involved here too. The more speeches we have, and the longer someone stands up there at the podium, the longer this whole ceremony tends to go.”
Archivist Alan Delozier took a deep dive into Seton Hall’s past to explore the history of commencement ceremonies.
The college decided to use the donation, given by the late 1957 graduate Henry F. Roman and his family, to develop a new Ph.D. program in Communication, according to SHU’s website.
