The Seton Hall University Athletic Department has teamed up with Alex and Ani to raise money for university sports programs. On Monday October 27, 15 percent of all sales from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Alex and Ani Westfield location will go to Seton Hall University Athletics.
Alex and Ani sells unique charms on jewelry including bangles, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. The company is known for its focus on positive energy and one-of-a-kind designs. The partnership is through Charity by Design, a division of Alex and Ani "focused solely on giving and making the dreams of charitable organizations come true" according to the Charity by Design Facebook page.
Senior Associate Athletic Director Kimberly Keenan-Kirkpatrick is hosting this event with help from Director of Midwest Admissions Maureen Barney and Pirate Blue fundraising. Keenan-Kirkpatrick chose to partner with Alex and Ani for the fundraiser because she thought favorably of the company’s philosophy and dedication to different charities. In addition, she wanted to host an event geared towards women.
Keenan-Kirkpatrick wants to take advantage of the event to provide the women of Seton Hall an opportunity to bond. She said, "I look at this event though on two levels, yes we will raise some money through the percentage of proceeds from the sales, but first and foremost it will bring together many of the women who support Seton Hall."
Seton Hall Athletics relies on the support from their donors in order to provide the best opportunity for the student-athletes. This event is expected to draw in more support. Keenan-Kirkpatrick said, "I think it is a super opportunity to have former players, current players, donors, and the entire Seton Hall community come to an event that will bring people together. It will be a fun night of appetizers, shopping and camaraderie."
