Update, 1:59 p.m.: According to Christie, the stolen Jeep Cherokees have not been recovered yet.
Christie said the South Orange Police Department is "confident" the individual they arrested yesterday morning is part of the vehicle thefts and break-ins crew.
The investigation into the incidents is continuing, according to Christie.

The South Orange Police Department has made an arrest in the vehicle theft and break-in incidents that have been occurring since March 21, according to Gary Christie, assistant director of Public Safety and Security.
According to Christie, Chief of Police James Chelel reported this morning that an individual from Newark is in custody.
This information was also confirmed by the South Orange Police Department police blotter, available on their website.
According to the blotter, Keith Tilghman, 25, of Newark, was arrested at 9:20 a.m. after being observed entering a vehicle on Fairview Avenue in South Orange.
According to Christie, the individual had items from previous vehicles in his possession.
"In his possession at the time of his arrest was a GPS unit he had just stolen from a vehicle on South Orange Avenue," the blotter stated.
The blotter also said the person in custody is alleged to have been involved in "numerous thefts in the area including the recent thefts of Jeep Cherokees."
A PirateAlert sent to the University community Friday afternoon warned of an increased amount of motor vehicle break-ins in and about the streets surrounding the South Orange campus. It also described two Jeep Cherokees that had been stolen which Christie confirmed belonged to Hall students.
Christie said he does not know if the stolen Jeeps have been recovered.
According to Christie, South Orange police are still investigating the incident, and more arrests may be made.
"The investigation is fluid and ongoing at this time by the Detective Bureau," the blotter stated.
