In front of a packed house at Owen T. Carroll Field, the men's soccer team fell to the St. Peter's Peacocks, 3-1, on the foot of sophomore striker Noah Sadaoui, who scored a hat trick on five shots on goal in 87 minutes of play.
For the Pirates, the first and only goal of the night for the Pirates was scored by sophomore midfielder Kai Greene, who scored on a header off a corner kick in the 24th minute.
11 minutes later, Sadaoui scored his first goal of the night off of an assist from junior midfielder Maged Alkasimi to tie the game at one.
The second goal came in the 53rd minute with assists to Alkasimi and senior forward Betim Bajrami. Sadaoui final goal of the game was scored unassisted in the 66th minute.
This loss comes as a tough one for the Pirates, as they won the possession and shooting battle, putting 21 shots on net, as compared to 12 by St. Peter's. Seton Hall also controlled the set pieces, having twice as many corners kicks as the Peacocks, six and three, respectively.
Debuting head coach Gerson Echeverry put the main focus on the loss on the inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
"We played very well at times, but just unfortunately when we had opportunities we couldn't put them away," Echeverry said. "When we [were] one down we made silly mistakes, they punished us, and we weren't capable of doing the same, we weren't capable of punishing them when they gave us some gifts, and that's the difference in a game where we were better in possession, we out shot them, more corners, a lot more, but we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net, and it came back to haunt us."
Seton Hall's next game is on Monday at Owen T Carroll Field against Army at 7 p.m.
