Men's golf closed out its season with a sixth-place finish at the final day of the Big East Championship on Tuesday in Okatie, S.C.
The Pirates finished 15-over-par, just a single stroke behind fifth-place Xavier.
St. John's captured the Big East championship going 18-over-par. Marquette went 28-over-par, finishing second. DePaul finished 35-over-par for a third-place finish while Georgetown and Xavier finished fourth and fifth respectively.
Freshman Lloyd Jefferson "LJ" Go led the Hall on Tuesday, shooting a 7-over-par and tying for seventh among individual golfers. JT Harper finished 12-over-par on the day, tying for a 12th-place finish. Senior Gary Dunne shot an even-par 72 to close out his college career.
Sophomore Cory Wilson finished second for the Hall at 21-over-par while junior Derrick Kim finished fifth at 33-over-par on the day.
The Hall came into Tuesday in third place, finishing 15-over-par, but lost ground to DePaul, who stormed their way into a third-place finish after sitting outside the top three on the first two days.
Fourth-place finisher Georgetown was sixth on the team leaderboard after the first and second rounds, but managed to climb for a fourth-place finish. Xavier, who finished a stroke over Seton Hall to grab fifth, finished round one in fifth, but moved up to fourth after the second round.
Senior Ryan McCormick, who went 5-under-par to help lead St. John's, came away with a first-place finish among individual golfers.
Georgetown's Gregory Podufal finished 3-over-par to tie with Xavier's Yuki Kato for second-place. Marquette's Brandon Cloete tied for fourth, shooting 5-over-par. Patrick Sanchez (6-over-par) finished sixth. Marquette's CJ Swift tied with Go for the seventh-place finish.
The Hall came into Monday's second round a stroke ahead of Xavier to take third place on the team leaderboard.
Go entered the day third on the player leaderboard, and shot an even-par 72 on the day. Wilson shot a 4-over-par, while Harper went 11-over-par. Dunne went 13-over-par on Monday and Kim went 24-over-par.
The Pirates opened play in the Big East championship on Sunday for round one where Go started as well as he finished, leading the Hall with a 2-over-par score, and capturing sixth.
Harper, Kim and Wilson all finished with a 5-over-par score. Dunne scored an 8-over-par to round out the opening day.
McCormick (finished first on Tuesday), who trailed for the only time during the tournament, tied for second behind teammate Ben Ludlam. The Hall finished the first day of action in third place, behind St. John's and Marquette.
The sixth-place finish caps the 2013-14 season for men's golf. For Dunne, his collegiate golf career comes to a close, and his honors while a member of the Pirates include being named to the 2012 All-Big East team, along with honors as a 2011 Academic All-Star.
Meanwhile, Go has shown to be a very bright spot for the program's future-finishing strong for a solid first season.
