The Seton Hall Pirates women’s golf team finished in sixth place this past weekend at the Princeton Invitational.
The Pirates finish was right in the middle of the competitive 12 team field that featured Ivy League schools Princeton, Yale, Dartmouth, Harvard, Columbia, as well as Penn State and Big East rival Georgetown.
Lizzie Win and Carolina Ronchel Salas shined, finishing at 7-over-par and 2-over-par for the tournament, respectively. Salas had an excellent second round, finishing the day at 1-under-par 71 and hitting par on 11 consecutive holes.

Salas finished tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard, which is a considerable feat given the number of teams and strength of competition in the tournament.
Win fired off two solid rounds at the tournament, finishing with 3-over-par 75 on Saturday and 4-over-par 76 on Sunday. She finished tied for 20th in the individual part of the tournament, but she would have been even higher up the leaderboard if not for a double-bogey on the 18th hole on Sunday.
The rest of the Pirates squad was hit and miss. Sammie Staudt had a rough first round, shooting a 7-over-par 79, but rebounded with a stellar second round that had her at third-best on the Pirates and tied for 24th overall. Mia Kness also had a less than stellar first round, but she showed promise by shooting a solid 1-over-par on the back nine on Sunday to finish at 10-over-par for the tournament.
Sarah Fouratt had a similar outing to Kness’, shooting 6-over-par on Saturday and 3-over-par on Sunday.
Maddie Sager and Maria Contreras Luna competed as individuals in the tournament. Sager finished at 9-over-par and Contreras Luna finished at 37-over-par.
Up next for the Pirates is the Yale Women’s Intercollegiate Tournament in New Haven, Conn. beginning on Friday, Oct. 5.
