Kaitlyn Reper (2010) is the most recent recipient of Seton Hall College of Nursing's Nelson J. Aquino Humanitarian Award.
Reper, a registered nurse at Hunterdon Endosurgery Center, said the award is presented to an alumnus from the College of Nursing who has contributed significantly to the nursing profession.
"Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be a nurse because I have a passion for helping others...taking a minute out of my day to hopefully make a difference in someone's life," Reper said.
The award was presented to Reper at the Hayley Awards in recognition of her achievements not only with her job but also as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Since volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as a student at Seton Hall, Reper has continued her involvement with the organization by traveling to Brazil and Guatemala, and leading a trip to El Salvador.
Reper said the award was a huge honor. She graduated from Seton Hall with a bachelor of science in nursing.
"I am definitely 'True Blue' and my passion for nursing, helping others, and Seton Hall will always stay strong," Reper said.
Sher said Seton Hall helped shape her into the person and nurse she is today.
"The outstanding support and guidance, the professors and friends I met, and the experience I had during my time at the Hall forever changed my life," Reper said.
Reper also is active The Young Alumni Club. The members seek to promote connections between alumni and recent graduates. Through The Young Alumni Club, "a variety of programs are held each year to foster Pirate Pride, provide networking op- portunities, build career skills and volunteer," Reper said.
