Following its first victory of the season against Canisius earlier in the day, Seton Hall volleyball ended Saturday on a high note by notching a 3-1 victory against Towson.

Prior to the outing, Towson was undefeated this season with a 6-0 record.
“A win over a higher ranked team is great for our confidence,” sophomore Cherise Hennigan said. “Because we know that it’ll only get tougher once we get into Big East play, we get a better idea of where we are and where we need to be once the regular season comes.”
To open the first set, the two teams traded blows. Seton Hall caught fire in the final moments, scoring six unanswered to recover from a 24-20 deficit and ultimately win the first set, 26-24.
Hennigan recorded four kills during that span, while also totaling a team-high 18 kills throughout the match. Hennigan also recorded a team-best four blocks.
The second set was a close contest until the final few plays, in which the Hall was able to muster a 25-23 victory. Even when the Tigers were down two sets to none, they proved that they were still kicking by winning the third set, 25-18. Nevertheless, the Hall regained control in the fourth and final set with a commanding 25-19 victory to win the match.
“We really did well towards the end of the match of knowing where they were going, and we were committed to their hitters before the ball was even set,” coach Allison Yaeger said.
Yaeger added that the team’s cohesiveness was key in the victory.
“A lot of people put the ball away for us tonight,” she said.
With four losses to start the season, Seton Hall is now on two-game winning streak to close out the Seton Hall classic. Sophomore Grace Forren, who had 13 kills, 9 digs and a service ace on Saturday night, sees the team coming together.
“The night was huge for us because it felt like it was the first time we meshed totally as a team,” she said. “The chemistry was so great out there and everyone really worked to earn the victory.”
Up next for the Hall comes the Blue Raider Bash in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where the Hall will clash in back-to-back affairs against Illinois State and Tennessee Tech. Both matches will be held at Middle Tennessee University with start times at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
