Seton Hall leads West Virginia at the Half

Just two nights ago it seemed that nothing could go right for the Seton Hall men's basketball team but in their Big East home opener the Pirates have a taken a 30-16 lead at halftime over West Virginia.

Sophomore Fuquan Edwin led all scorers in the first half with 11 points on 4-7 shooting while seniors Jordan Theodore and Herb Pope both added nine points. Senior Kevin Jones led the Mountaineers with nine points.

As a team the Hall shot 50 percent from the field and from three point range, compared to the Mountaineers only shooting 26 percent in the half.

At the first media timeout the Pirates trailed the Mountaineers 7-5 but once play resumed Pope made a lay-up to tie the game and followed that up with an old fashion three point play to give the Pirates the 10-7 lead. Those baskets from Pope started an 11-0 run for the Hall to give them a 16-7 lead.

Just a few minutes later the Pirates started another run this time outscoring West Virginia 12-2, finished off from Theodore driving the lane for a lay-up.

However, at the end of the half the Pirates started running into foul trouble sending West Virginia to the free throw line four times, and ending the first half with four players having two fouls.
