With a host like Rebel Wilson, it was no surprise that the 2013 MTV Movie Awards kept us laughing all night long. The show, which aired on April 14, honored entertainment's best movies.
Wilson's sarcastic, dry humor was made known from the show's opening montage, which featured the funny girl in her native Australia making fun of her fellow Aussies and taking on fictional roles from the year's popular films. From portraying the tiger in "Life of Pi" to being Fantine's counterpart in "Les Miserables," Wilson's opening skits were very creative and equally hilarious.
In addition to taking home the awards for Breakthrough Performance (for which she demanded a kiss from Zac Efron) and Best Musical Moment, Wilson also debuted her live singing and rapping skills alongside the rest of the "Pitch Perfect" cast in a mash-up of Macklemore's "Thrift Shop," Miley Cyrus' "The Climb," Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire."
Selena Gomez also performed her new single "Come & Get It" for the first time live, stirring up some controversy for wearing a bindi and doing a traditional middle eastern-inspired routine.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis rounded out the night's performances with their current single "Can't Hold Us," which had notable faces like Samuel L. Jackson bobbing their heads in the audience.
Emma Watson was given the Trailblazer award by two of her former co-stars Logan Lerman and Eddie Redmayne, who gushed about the kind, humble actress.
Will Ferrell received the Comedic Genius award while wearing a money-printed suit. He also brought up a fake wife and fake children to whom he professed his love and appreciation. Amidst his humor-driven acceptance speech, "Parks & Recreation" star Aubrey Plaza jumped up on stage and tried to take the golden popcorn right out of Ferrell's hand, just like Kanye West once did to Taylor Swift. While Ferrell played off the interruption as a joke, it was later confirmed by MTV News that the skit was completely unplanned.
The night's biggest award, Movie of the Year, went to "The Avengers" and was presented by Brad Pitt, but fans were perhaps just as excited when Taylor Lautner took home the award for Best Shirtless Performance for his stomach-bearing portrayal of Jacob in "The Twilight Saga" films.
