East Orange duo plead not guilty in shooting death of Seton Hall student

Two East Orange men pleaded not guilty on Oct. 4 for their alleged participation in the September 2010 murder of Seton Hall sophomore Jessica Moore, according to officials. Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor's office, said Marcus Bascus, 20, and Nicholas Welch, 26, pleaded not guilty on all charges Tuesday afternoon. Bascus and Welch were charged with "felony murder, murder, conspiracy to commit murder, burglary, four counts of attempted murder and two weapons offenses." Welch was also charged with "hindering prosecution by destroying or tampering with evidence." According to Carter, "the date has not been scheduled for the trial."
