Seton Hall women’s volleyball played its first of two games at home to end off the regular season against Georgetown on Nov. 18.
Tied at four early in the first set, the Pirates capitalized on two attack errors and a kill from Julia Wilkins to force a timeout from the Hoyas. Georgetown later tied the game again, this time at 12, though four straight points finished by a Perri Lucas kill put Seton Hall 16-12.
The Hall led for most of the first set, and as Georgetown cut the deficit to one, the Pirates responded with a 6-1 run for set point. Lucas threw down the hammer for another kill, giving Seton Hall the advantage for the first set, 25-21.
Georgetown took a lead in the second set and did not look back. After the Pirates tied the set at five, the Hoyas took a four-point lead and did not look back. Seton Hall could not get within two for the remaining duration of the set as Georgetown took the second set by a score of 25-22.
After three straight points out of the gate in the third set, the Pirates trailed for the most part. Down 16-12, an 8-1 run forced a Hoyas timeout as Seton Hall now led 20-17. Their run continued out of the timeout and with an attack error putting the Pirates in set point. A Jenna Walsh kill gave them a 25-20 advantage to steal the third set.
The Hoyas had no answer for the offensive clinic put on by The Hall. Georgetown had an .038 attack percentage compared to the .469 attack percentage for Seton Hall alongside 18 kills for the set. An 8-2 run closed the game after leading 15-11, and consecutive kills from Wilkins ended the match, giving Seton Hall the win, 25-16.
Taylor Jakubowski had 19 assists and 11 digs for her team-leading 11th double-double of the season. Walsh had a match-high 18 kills and a .417 attack percentage. Wallace added a career-high 16 kills and Maddie Klungel recorded a team-high 22 assists.
Seton Hall improves to 15-14 on the season and will play their final game of the regular season on Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium where they will face off against Villanova.
