Such was the case, as Seton Hall’s sophomore quartet of Isaiah Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington, Angel Delgado and Desi Rodriguez all received honors. Leading the way was White- head, who was named to the All-Met First Team after averaging 18.2 points, 5.1 assists, 3.6 re- bounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Those numbers all improved in conference play. Whitehead also received the Lieutenant Frank J. Haggerty Award from the Met Writers, which is given to the best player in the metropolitan area. Carrington and Delgado were picked to represent Seton Hall on the All-Met Second Team. In his second season as a Pirate in the backcourt, Carrington averaged 14.1 points, 2.5 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game. Anchor- ing the frontcourt was Delgado, who finished his season putting up 9.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, nearly averaging a double-double.
After a breakout season in his sophomore year, Rodriguez was the lone Pirate named to the All-Met Third Team. Known to dunk a ball or two, Rodriguez averaged 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. With four players honored, Seton Hall holds the most players named to All-Met teams. No other school had more than two players named, and zero players from Pirate rivals Rutgers and St. John’s were given a nod.
