In his nine-minute inaugural address, the incoming student government president reaffirmed his promise to address student concerns during an induction ceremony.
"We have many goals for the coming year," Tim Hoffman said on Monday. "And as president, I will work closely with our administration to ensure that the concerns of students are attended to and that we reach compromises that benefit the entire University community as a whole."
The Student Government Association also inducted other members of the new executive board and of the Senate Monday.
The guest list included University administrators and representatives from South Orange.
Prior to Hoffman's inauguration, two-term president Joseph Donato, provided some advice to the newly installed Senate, ending with a reading of Rudyard Kipling's poem "If."
"Do not give way to faction, remain united as a team and support your leaders and work to bring new leaders into the fold so that you your strength may be even greater," said Donato, a senior. "I have the utmost confidence in you, in your new president and in the strength of the organization we have built together."
The 2014-2015 SGA Senate will meet for the first time at 6 p.m. on Monday.
