The Seton Hall volleyball team will head to Blacksburg, Va., this weekend to participate in the Hokie Invitational, hosted by Virginia Tech.
The Hall takes on Tennessee at 4 p.m. on Friday, leading into Saturday's doubleheader against Virginia Tech at noon and American University at 5 p.m.
Tennessee sits at 4-2 on the season, with both of their losses coming in the Illinois State Farm Classic last weekend.
The Lady Volunteers lost to Illinois, 3-1, and Houston, 3-2.
The Lady Vols are led by sophomore Kelsey Robinson, who leads the team with 136 kills and is second with 96 digs.
Tennessee is averaging 13.26 kills per set while holding opponents to 11.89.
Virginia Tech dropped three straight last weekend after opening the season 3-0, leaving them at .500 so far this year.
They lost 3-2 to Ohio on Sept. 2 and dropped the final two games of the Kentucky Tournament 3-0 to Western Kentucky and tournament host Kentucky.
The Hokies will take on American University on Friday at 7 p.m. before Saturday's noon game against the Pirates.
Senior Justine Record leads Virginia Tech with 59 kills, but the Hokies have four other players with over 42 kills.
Junior Morgan O'Neill leads the team on defensive with 74 digs, while Record is second with 65.
The Hokies average 12.4 kills per set, holding opponents to 10.9 kills.
American also sits at 3-3 on the season coming off a 3-1 victory over Cornell on Sept. 3 at the Cornell Invitational.
Freshman Sara Rishell leads the team with 83 kills, with sophomore Juliana Crum's 73 kills making her second on the roster. Crum is also second on the team with 65 digs.
Freshman Monika Smidova leads the team with 68 digs.
American is allowing 13.78 kills per set, yet only averaging 12.87 on the offensive attack.
The Pirates have similar team stats, allowing 13.71 kills per set, while averaging 12.57 of their own.
Senior Meghan Matusiak leads the Hall with 74 kills, while freshmen Stacey and Shelbey Manthorpe have 46 and 41 kills respectively.
Shelbey also leads the team with 182 assists and is second in digs with 58.
Senior Meghan Bonk leads Seton Hall with 27 blocks on the season.
The Pirates defeated Long Island University 3-0 in their home opener on Tuesday night, evening their season record at 3-3.
After the Hokie Invitational, the Hall heads home to play Hofstra on Tuesday night.
Hofstra enters the weekend with an undefeated record with four games this weekend.
