The men's golf team tied 11th overall at the 2012 Hartford Hawks Invitational, dropping two spots from where they finished on Monday.
Pirates were one of three teams participating Big East teams, and finished behind Connecticut and Rutgers.
The host team, the Hartford Hawks, won the invitational while shooting a combined 875 and had a 20 shot lead on second place Boston College. The Pirates shot a combined 925 for the three rounds which put them at 61-over par for the tournament, 50 strokes behind the winners.
The Pirates' worst round came at the worst time in the third round, where they shot a combined 315, a team high for the tournament.
"In general I thought we could have played better overall," head coach Clay White said. "We are a young team, our freshmen need to get used to the college lifestyle with classes and the limited practice time we have. I think Derrick Kim played decent but as a team we all could have played a little better."
Seton Hall was led by an effort by sophomore Derrick Kim who led the Pirates by shooting a 12-over-par for the three rounds. Kim finished 29th overall out of 89 individual golfers.
The Pirates also got help from freshman Cory Wilson, who was tied with Kim through the first two rounds but then fell off in the third and final round shooting a 10-over-par 82, dropping him to 45th overall.
The Pirates will return to the links in two weeks when they participate in the Binghamton University Invitational in Apalachin, N.Y.
