The Pirates women’s soccer team drew 1-1 in Omaha on Sunday versus the Creighton Bluejays.
The Hall, still winless in Big East play drew the 1-2-1 Bluejays after a 110-minute affair that saw the Pirates break their three-game goalless drought.
Junior Amanda Gulli scored in the 53rd minute of play on a penalty kick to collect her first of the season and first as a Pirate. The Toms River native had three shots on the day.
The lead for the blue and white would be short lived however, as four minutes later Creighton’s Ylenia Sachau scored on a penalty kick of her own to knot the game up at one.
Freshman Jackie Saint John also had three shots with two of them coming on goal.
Sophomore Illissa Blackshear ended the game with eight saves including the game-saving save in the 105th minute to keep the Pirates from losing their fourth straight match. The Bluejays kept Blackshear busy during the match as they put up 21 shots with eight of them on goal.
On the other side, Creighton’s goalie Danielle Rice workload wasn’t much harder as the Pirates had five shots on goal on 11 shots.
The Pirates are still searching for their first Big East win of the season and will look to build off this grind out draw in their next match against Xavier.
