The Seton Hall women’s golf team finished in 10th place in the Low Country Intercollegiate Tournament this weekend.
After shooting a very strong 314 in the first round on Saturday, the Pirates struggled on Sunday, shooting a 322 to finish the two-day tournament with a combined team score of 636, which tied them with SCAD-Savannah.
Megan Tenhundfeld led the way for the Hall all weekend and finished ninth overall in the tournament. Tenhundfeld shot a team-best 76 and a 77 to combine for 153 for the weekend. It was Tenhundeld’s 11th career top-10 finish, which ranks third all-time at Seton Hall.
McKenzie Cutter and Karlie Zabrosky both had strong weekends with final scores of 159.
The tournament was won by Bethune-Cookman, which shot a 304 in the first round, followed by a 307 in the second round for a combined score of 611. That was good enough to hold off second-place Chattanooga by three strokes.
The tournament featured 18 teams this year, which was the largest field in the history of the event. The 18 teams included Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Brown, Bucknell, Chattanooga, The Citadel, Dalton State, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Longwood, Navy, Presbyterian, SCAD, USC Beaufort, USC Upstate and William & Mary.
The invitational was played at the Moss Creek Golf Club with its two championship courses, Devils Elbow South and Devils Elbow North. Both courses are well over 30 years old and provided many challenges for the golfers, as even the first-place team shot 35 strokes over par.
The Pirates will be back in action on April 4 and 5 in the Hoya Invitational when they travel down to Beallsville, Md.
