The Seton Hall men’s golf team had a strong outing in the first two rounds of the Hartford Hawks Invitational on Monday in South Kent, Conn., finishing the first day in third place out of 20 teams.
After finishing third out of a 10-team field at the Navy Fall Classic last Sunday, the Pirates came out hot on Monday, finishing the first of two days with a total score of 574, a 2-under-par. The team sat in second place after the first round with a 6-under-par for the tournament, but shot a 4-over-par in Round 2. The team only trails only the University of Connecticut and the Central Florida for the lead.
An impressive day from the Pirates was highlighted by Lloyd Jefferson Go and Ryan Snouffer, who both finished the first two rounds in the top 10 of the 108-player field. Go finished seventh and Snouffer finished eighth.
In the first round, Snouffer lead all golfers, shooting a 5-over-par, 67, in the first round, but slipped in the second round with a 1-over-par, 73, to give him a total score of 140, 4-under-par. Go shot a 2-under par-70 in round one and a 3-under-par in Round 2, leaving him with a score of 139, a 5-under-par for the day.
Seton Hall had six golfers in action overall. Chris Yeom ranked third among the Pirates and tied for 26th overall, shooting a 3-over-par for the first two rounds. David Cha fell from 11th to a tie for 48th after shooting a 7-over-par in the second round to give him an 8-over-par, 151, for the tournament. Other golfers Monday included Cory Wilson, who sits at 9-over-par for the tournament, and Gen Nagai, who sits at 14-over-par.
The Pirates look to continue their solid outing Tuesday, where the third and final round will take place at the Bull’s Bridge Golf Club.
