Hey, Pirates! It’s been a while.
Finals are right around the corner, so what a perfect time for us at The Setonian to bring back the Voice and tell you all to remember to take care of yourself during this time.
Let’s be honest, there’s been some “tension” in the air ever since the presidential election. The results have left some people disheartened and stressed over the uncertainty of the future, and while it’s okay to not feel okay, you must remember that your mental health needs to be cared for, especially during finals week.
Never be afraid to reach out to others if you ever need help—whether it’s family, friends, professors, advisors, etc., know that you are not alone and you shouldn’t feel ashamed to ask for a helping hand.
Life is more than just finals. Remember to take a break, take a deep breath, and relax your mind. Yes, exams are important, but don’t let them consume your life. Remember to study and take your time; once things start to slow down afterward, enjoy every moment of your free time.
If you’re feeling stressed, go for a walk or run, hit the gym, write in a journal, or bake some cookies. Do whatever helps you focus and clear your mind. Self-care is important during finals because if you don’t prioritize yourself, you won’t succeed.
Another thing you should always remember: There is no time for procrastination. (We cannot stress this enough.)
Do not waste time distracting yourself to avoid your assignments. The more you delay things, the less time you’ll have to get work done and study, which would then cause you more stress.
Make sure you schedule a study plan to help manage your time so you don’t get overwhelmed. Get yourself a planner, or even a notepad, and plan out everything. Also, make sure you know exactly when your finals are. (Please, don’t be the person who misses their final because they didn’t check the finals schedule on the SHU website.)
Best of luck, Pirates!
