The Student Government Association discussed holiday celebrations, cafeteria food, a possible shuttle service to the airport and the upcoming Seton Hall Town Meeting during its meeting on Monday.
One of the first topics to be brought up was the Seton Hall holiday celebration. Christmas at the Hall will begin with Mass at 5 p.m. on Thursday and will be followed by the tree lighting ceremony at 5:45 p.m. on the Green. SGA prepared a week's worth of events for the University community in celebration of the holidays.
Also on the agenda was a discussion of the cafeteria food. Many students at the meeting wanted to see a wider variety of menu options and additional vegetarian and vegan meals.
It was also brought to the attention of the SGA that many students would find it more convenient if there was a food establishment on campus that was open 24/7.
The SGA wanted to continue expanding the food take out program as well.
The Student Life Committee reported on the shuttle service.
The SGA said it is aware that many residents are not from New Jersey and will be strongly advocating for a shuttle service that can transport students from the University to the airport for Christmas break.
Arts and Science Sen. Drew Holden discussed the surveys that will be emailed to the student body. These surveys will cover topics such as the registration process, library usage and the possibility of increased online learning.
"Any data is helpful," Holden said. "The more feedback I get, the better."
A large part of the meeting was dedicated to the Seton Hall Town Meeting on Dec. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. SGA President Joe Donato stressed the importance of this particular event.
"This is the opportunity for SGA and the student body to come together," Donato said. "(It is an opportunity) for the senators and the leaders of this organization to hear the voices of the students, to hear their concerns."
