Women's soccer loses to Army

Despite outshooting the opponent, the women's soccer team lost its first match of the season on Monday night, 1-0, against the Army Black Knights for the second consecutive year.

In a defensive game, the lone score of the evening came in the 78th minute off the foot of Black Knight substitute Anna Lail right in front of the goal on a pass from forward Kim An.

The difference in the game was the efficiency on shots. The Pirates had 15 shots, four of which were on target, while the Black Knights had four shots on goal but only took 10 shots during the game.

Army also handed the Pirates their first loss last season in a 1-0 game.

The Pirates are back in action at 1:30 p.m. on Friday against LaSalle, as part of the Villanova tournament.
