Keeping your skin moisturized is important all year round, but especially during the wintertime when the weather easily dries skin out.
My skin type is normal to dry, so during the cold seasons like fall and winter, my skin dries up.The cold also causes my eczema to flare up ⎯ primarily on my neck, the top of my hands, my eyelids, and around the corners of my lips.
If you’re someone who also has dry skin or suffers from eczema, here are four tips and my favorite products that help keep my skin hydrated and glowy all winter long!
1. Moisturize Consistently
Moisturizing your skin daily is the most important factor that goes into keeping your skin hydrated! I always make sure to moisturize the skin on my face and body every morning and night.
2. Toners, Serums and Moisturizers
One of the best ways to keep your skin moisturized is by layering hydrating products. I typically use a toner, a serum, and a thicker moisturizer (cream or balm). Since my skin is dry in the winter, I find that layering 2 to 3 hydrating products nourishes my skin and keeps dryness away.
3. Double Moisturizing
I find that moisturizing twice helps keep my skin from peeling and getting flaky. I like to apply two layers of moisturizer, or one layer followed by a thicker soothing balm right after. Moisturizing as much as possible helps prevent my skin from peeling.
4. Cold or Lukewarm Water
When washing my face or showering, avoiding hot water is key! I recommend cold or lukewarm water while washing my face and body. I noticed that using hot water irritated my skin, specifically around the problem areas such as my neck where I deal with eczema.
