Texas transfer Sterling Gibbs has planned to join the Seton Hall basketball team according to tweets from senior Jordan Theodore and sophomore Fuquan Edwin, along with Jerry Carino on his NJ Hoops Haven Blog.
Gibbs, a point guard, had announced his plans to leave Texas after his freshman year because of his father having an illness. In his first season he averaged 7.5 minutes a game with 2.6 points per game and 0.7 assists.
It is unknown if Gibbs will receive a hardship waiver from the NCAA which will allow him to play immediately instead of waiting the customary one year due to transfer regulations.
Gibbs, a native of Scotch Plains, N.J., is the brother of former Pittsburgh Panther Ashton Gibbs, who was Big East Preseason Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season.
