[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="717"] belmarparasail.com[/caption] The summer heat has got everyone sweating, but don't worry because there are a lot of New Jersey hangouts to cool off and chill out. With the free time that you have, pack up your swimwear and sunscreen and head out to enjoy some water sports and adventures. The Jersey Shore is not just a place to swim, tan and walk the boardwalk, but it’s also great to take up water sports…or attempt to. Whether you live in New Jersey or are from out-of-state, just visiting, there are many places to go kayaking, parasailing, canoeing, boating, water skiing and paddle boarding. This summer’s popular water sports range from jet skiing in deep waters, parasailing hundreds of feet over the ocean to speed boating on fresh salt-water of the Jersey Shore. The Bayview Marina in Ocean City is a great place to go water skiing, tubing, kayaking and sailing. If you're not too interested in putting in some leg work to shred through the waters, then gear up to experience parasail flights and boat tours. Shake things up and head to the Lakeview Marina at Lake Hopatcong to go water skiing, paddle boarding, tubing and other fun sports. They offer lessons and equipment so that you could hop on to have some fun in the water. Pack up your bags, head out, put on some sunscreen and prepare to have some fun in Wildwood. The popular New Jersey vacation spot is filled with places to relax and have an adventure. You could surf it up in the cool East Coast waters at Wildwood Crest. If surfing isn’t what you’re looking for, then hang loose parasailing through taking up the offers provided at Wildwood’s Hang Loose Parasail place. If you head out to Cape May, then you’ll find yourself sailing with the dolphins if you go out to the Delaware Bay Estuary. Also, there are a number of amusement and water parks to have some fun with family and friends. The Breakwater Beach Waterpark in Seaside Heights and Mountain Creek Waterpark in Vernon are great places to have some wet water fun. The Thundering Surf Waterpark in Beach Haven and Hurricane Harbor in Jackson are also popular places to go. These shore towns are packed with fun, adventure and great opportunities to bask in the sun and cool off by jumping into some deep waters. While some water sports may appear too extreme for your taste, there’s a lot of other New Jersey hangouts to take things easy and still have fun. There are always great places to eat, dance, cool off and relax in the Garden State. Even if it’s just some mini golfing and having some ice cream, it is packed with fun and entertainment throughout this summer. Nisha Desai can be reached at nisha.desai@student.shu.edu
