Seton Hall University students, faculty and friends will parade their Pirate pride in New York City's St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17.
Students who wish to represent Seton Hall in the event must register to march by Friday. Students can register at www.shu. edu/go/stpatricksday.
Charter bus tickets cost $20 and tickets for those providing their own transportation are $10.
According to Eilish Harrington, the assistant editor of publications and assistant marketing coordinator for the Catholic Center for Family Spirituality and institutional research specialist for Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, the Pirates of Irish Persuasion and Extraction organized the school's participation.
PIPE officers, advisers and representatives from Seton Hall "have been working diligently since the beginning of the fall 2013 semester on making Seton Hall's second annual march in the parade a success," Harrington said.
Seton Hall marched in the parade for the first time in 2013, and the organization reapplied to march this year.
The group will march with the Seton Hall banner, and since the parade is broadcast, may appear on television.
The Seton Hall contingent is scheduled to step off around 4 p.m., according to Harrington.
They will attend a special St. Patrick's Day Mass at noon on March 17, led by the Rev. John Morely, according to Harrington.
"We'd like to invite the entire University community to attend this Mass-those who are able to march in the parade, as well as those who are unable to attend the parade but would like to share in the celebration of the feast day of Ireland's patron saint," Harrington said.
Harrington describes PIPE as "an organization that is open to all Seton Hall students-graduate and undergraduate-who are interested in the Irish culture."
