After seven seasons at the controls of the Seton Hall women's soccer team, head coach Kazbek Tambi has stepped down from his position.
Tambi left the team to focus on youth soccer developments projects, including World Class FC, a local traveling soccer academy.
The Pirates finished with a 5-11-2 record in the 2013 season, a minor drop off from the 7-12 record in 2012.
This season the squad was rich with the experience of six seniors, as well as freshmen stars Frankie Maier and Sarah Cortes.
Tambi was a men's soccer assistant for nine years before getting the promotion to head coach of the women's team.
He became the second head coach in the history of the program following the departure Betty Ann Kempf Townsley in 2007.
Tambi compiled 46 wins in his seven seasons at the Hall, with 18 of those wins coming during conference play.
The Pirates grabbed only one Big East tournament victory under Tambi's tenure (2011).
The women's soccer team proved to be exemplary student-athletes while playing for Tambi, who boasted 19 players that received Big East Academic All-Star honors in 2012 and a Team Academic Award from the Nation- al Soccer Coaches Association of America in that same year.
"Kazbek has represented Seton Hall University and its women's soccer program with great honor and dedication," Director of Athletics Patrick Lyons told shupirates.com.
The program is searching for Tambi's successor.
