Early Sunday morning on Oct. 14, Lindsay Ireland, a Seton Hall University and Columbia Journalism School alumna, was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 10 in Randolph, N.J.

Northjersey.com reported that the accident happened at 2 a.m. on eastbound lanes of Route 10 in Randolph, N.J.
Faculty adjunct Scott Muller was Ireland’s professor in her Publications Editing class. He shared in an email Ireland’s enthusiasm for journalism and constructive work ethic.
“Lindsay was a fine student who was both insightful and hard-working,“ Muller said. “When I learned that she had been hired at The Daily Record, I was proud of her. She was off to a great and was passionate about her beat.”
Dr. Amy Nyberg, associate professor of communication, mentored Ireland and taught her in several classes. Nyberg expressed her reaction and heartbreak in an email about Ireland’s passing.
Nyberg selected Ireland to join the TAP team, a group of journalism students who report for the online newspaper TAPinto. The Seton Hall journalism program partnered for several years with TAP and students reported on South Orange. Additionally, she commented on Ireland’s superb reporting skills.
“I found out when reporters posted the news on social media. She had just gotten a job at a newspaper I worked at for many years, The Daily Record,” Nyberg said. “I was heartbroken to hear of her death. She was so young and just starting to make her mark on the world. My heart goes out to her family and friends.”
