The Seton Hall women's basketball team collected their first Big East win of the season defeating the Pittsburgh Panthers 63-39 on Saturday.
The win improves the Pirates to 8-21 overall and 1-14 in the conference.
Senior Jasmine Crew led all scorers with 19 points on 7-19 shooting while junior Terry Green added 11 points off the bench. Senior Tajay Ashmeade collected 15 rebounds to go with her seven points.
The Panthers were led by sophomore Ashlee Anderson with 11 points with sophomore Kyra Dunn pulling down 10 rebounds.
Pittsburgh tied the game at 10-10 with 13:13 left in the first half, the last the game would be tied. Sophomore Jazzmine Johnson hit two free throws giving the Pirates a 12-10 lead and starting a 12-2 run over the next five minutes.
Holding a 22-12 advantage the Pirates held their double-digit lead to half time, going to the locker room up 31-19.
In the second half the Hall defense shut down the Panthers offense, holding them without a point for the first eight minutes until freshman Chyna Golden made one of two free throws.
Pittsburgh did not get their first field goal of the second half until there was 9:23 left on the clock. By that point the Pirates had jumped out to a commanding 48-22 lead.
