The men's golf team took home their third title of the season, winning the 10-team Manor Intercollegiate and tying a school record for wins in an academic year. The women's team finished in fourth in the Roar-ee Invitational in Suffern, NY.
The men's team got out of the gate quickly, posting the best score in the first two rounds with a combined 570, shooting 288 in the first round and 282 in the second round, which was the lowest round of the tournament.
The Pirates shot a combined 880 for the weekend, leaving them at 16-over-par for the tournament. The University of Delaware and the host team, Longwood University, finished behind the Hall in second and third. Delaware shot an 887, seven shots behind the Pirates, and Longwood finished with a score of 892, falling 12 shots behind.
Individually, the key performers over the weekend were junior Brandon Park, who finished eight strokes off the individual lead, tying for third place. Park, the two- time All-Big East performer, shot a 1-over-par, 217.
Two other Pirates finished within the top-10. Senior John Dawson Neufeld and Troy Spencer both tied for sixth with a 3-over-par, 219.
While the Pirates did have three top-ten finishes, the host team, Longwood had the overall individual winner, sophomore Dylan Jense. Jense shot a career and tournament best 7-under-par, 209. His second round score of 63 also tied a course record, and is a school record for Jensen.
Rounding out the Pirates was freshman Derrick Kim, who tied for 14th place at 9-over-par and sophomore Gary Dunne at 15-over-par.
While the men's team was down south, the women's team played up north and also had a successful weekend, finishing fourth in the 14-team Roar-ee Invitational at Suffern, N.Y.. As a team, the Hall shot a combined 629 over the two rounds, leaving them at 53-over-par.
Finishing ahead of the Hall was Harvard, Columbia and St. John's. Harvard took the tournament by shooting a 24-over-par for a total of 600, with Columbia six shots behind at 30-over for a score of 606. St. John's shot 49-over-par to finish third.
The Pirates had one top-10 finisher with sophomore Christina Cantu shooting a four-over-par, 76 in the final round to lead the team and secure the sixth place finish.
The Pirates also received strong play from freshmen Erin McClure and sophomore Hannah Basalone with scores of 14 and 15-over-par. Only one tournament remains for both the men's and women's golf teams.
Both teams will next play in the Big East Championship with the women's starting on April 22 while the men's team will compete from April 29 to May 1. These rounds will be played at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla.
