Women's soccer falls to Cincinnati

The women's soccer team lost 3-0 in Cincinnati.

The Bearcats were on the offensive in the first half, having 13 shots in the half. Cincinnati midfielder Logan Ballinger would put Cincinnati on the scoreboard in the 24th minute to break the scoreless tie.

Off a corner kick from defender Kelli Pawelko, Ballinger found space near the back post and slid a shot past goalkeeper Jennifer Pettigrew.

Ballinger would strike again on an unassisted goal just four minutes later, beating Pettigrew for the second time in the game to give Cincinnati a 2-0 lead that they would carry into halftime.

The second half was not much better for the Pirates. In the 69th minute, a feed from Cincinnati's Emily Hebbeler found sophomore forward Jazmine Rhodes with only Pettigrew to beat. Rhodes found the back of the net for the fifth time this season, closing the scoring and giving the Bearcats a 3-0 win.

The Pirates next game is on Sunday when they face the Louisville Cardinals in Louisville. The game starts at noon.
