Chair of Board of Regents steps down

Kurt Borowsky, the chair of the Board of Regents, has stepped down from his position effective immediately, according to a broadcast e-mail on Thursday evening.

Interim President Gabriel Esteban, who made the announcement, said in the e-mail that Borowsky informed the Board of Regents of his decision during their September meeting on Thursday.

Borowsky has been chair of the Board since 2003 and a member since 1993, according to the broadcast e-mail.

The message added that Borowsky "summed up his time as chairman as a ‘truly gratifying experience.'"

The Board of Regents has named Vice-Chair John Schimpf as an interim replacement while a committee is formed to nominate and name a successor.

During his time on the Board of Regents, Borowsky was honored with the first Annual Leadership Award from Seton Hall's Center for Leadership Studies and the Alumni Council of the Stillman School of Business, according to the e-mail.

The e-mail also stated he received the Many Are One Most Distinguished Alumnus Award.

"He leaves our Board of Regents with my gratitude for his dedication to the Catholic mission of this University and the progress we have made as an institution during his term of leadership," Esteban said in the broadcast e-mail.
