According to several posts on his Twitter account on Tuesday morning, the men's basketball team's top recruit for next season, Aquille Carr, has apparently decided to play basketball professionally overseas instead of coming to South Orange.
The 5-foot-7 Baltimore, Md. native cited money as a main reason for foregoing his Seton Hall career.
"The money wont always be there gotta get it when u can i turned it down last time not this time," Carr tweeted on his account at 1:42 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Although there is no proof other than Carr's tweets at the time, he was retweeting followers who were congratulating him on this decision.
This is not the first time he has been offered a professional contract.
In 2011, Virtus Roma of Italy offered Carr a $750,000 contract, according to rivals.com. Virtus Roma is the same team that current NBA player Brandon Jennings played for before entering the league.
This is also not the first time Carr had thought about his future this season. In a Feb. 23 article by Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun, Carr had been thinking about professional basketball.
"I'm thinking about a lot more stuff that I could advance to," Carr said in the interview. "I think I'm ready to make it like my job. If you know about basketball, you know what that means. By the end of the season, everybody will find out."
Carr is ranked by ESPN as the No. 23 point guard and the No. 5 player from Maryland in the 2013 class.
Carr later tweeted his feelings about Seton Hall at 2:02 a.m.
"Shu love will remain the same," Carr wrote. "I'll see yall soon."
