Missouri transfer Tray Jackson committed to Seton Hall on Monday night. Jackson will sit out the 2020-21 season, giving him three years of remaining eligibility.
A former Top 100 recruit out of Sunrise Christian Academy in Detroit, Jackson averaged 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game as a freshman at Missouri last season. Seton Hall recruited Jackson hard when he was in high school, but he ultimately committed to Minnesota over the Pirates before flipping his commitment to Missouri.
Listed at 6-foot-8 and 215 pounds, Jackson has a skill set that profiles similarly to Seton Hall rising sophomore forward Tyrese Samuel. Like Samuel, Jackson can play on the perimeter and in the paint on both ends of the floor.
“He has very good athleticism and is powerfully built,” Brian Snow, a national basketball analyst for 247Sports, said. “He is at his best at the power forward spot, but he does have the ability to switch ball screens, so he can play some on the wing. Jackson is a developing shooter from deep and is at his best going to the rim and finishing with power and athleticism. He is a solid rebounder, though that should improve as he gets stronger and pays more attention to detail in a college program.”
With Jackson now officially in the mix, Seton Hall has one scholarship remaining to fill out its 2020-21 roster. The last scholarship is expected to go to a high school big man, with Patrick School center Adama Sanogo being Seton Hall’s top target. Sanogo recently released a top six consisting of the Pirates, Auburn, Connecticut, Maryland, Nebraska and Pittsburgh.
