Former senate secretary Alyssa Futa was selected to replace senate Speaker Arthur Adriano after he stepped down from his position due to undisclosed personal reasons. The Student Government Association (SGA) quickly recovered from Adriano’s departure and began their smooth transition into the new year.
Futa said she has settled into her role well with the support of
the senate leadership and SGA advisor Colleen Dallavalle. “Our SGA has been really supportive during the transition, and I am really thankful that they have been so willing to meet with me,” Futa said via email.
As a core member of senate leadership, Futa has a lot of work ahead of her overseeing the main administrative duties within the SGA which affect the operation of the organization.
“I am here as a resource for SGA and hope to help anyone as much as I can to help achieve our goals of improving our campus and the Seton Hall student experience,” Futa said.
Futa also has the full support of former speaker Adriano who retired from both his position in senate leadership and from his role as Arts and Sciences senator. Adriano said he is enthusiastic about the upcoming term and about Futa as senate speaker.
“The Student Senate remains in capable hands under the leadership and guidance of Senate Speaker Alyssa Futa as well as the rest of government leadership,” Adriano said.
As of Aug. 21, Futa is officially the new senate speaker. Futa went on to discuss her two main goals for the semester which both revolve around keeping the SGA running at its full potential.
Said Futa, “My goals are to help the Senate and Executive Committee as much as possible with their initiatives and utilizing their role to the best of their ability.”
