Fricker's Dominant Outing Leads Pirates on Day One of Golfweek

Men’s Golf completed the first day of the 2024 Golfweek Fall Challenge at Pawleys Island, S.C. on Sunday, placing seventh among 15 schools at the end of the first round. Arkansas State, Austin Peay State, and Wright State hold the top three podium positions at first, second, and third respectively.

The Pirates were led by a dominant performance from England native George Fricker, who shot -4 overall through 18 holes. The senior notched six birdies and parred 10 holes in round one. Fricker sits comfortably in the upper ranks, tied for third among 85 golfers.

Supporting Fricker was senior Patrick Kahanek who finished even, recording four birdies including two back-to-back on the 17th and 18th holes.

Rounding out the Pirate roster were junior David Lally, sophomore Eli Shah, and senior Angus O’Brien, who all shot four over sharing an identical score of 76. Individual competitor Will Hennessee finished 2-under-par, a personal best for his collegiate career. The first-year tied for 10th with four other golfers.

Seton Hall is looking to catch up to Presbyterian College and Stetson, who sit only four strokes away from the Pirates’ combined 292 and stand between the Hall and the upper half of the leaderboard. Arkansas State sits comfortably in the upper echelon with a team score of 277.

The Pirates will resume play on Sept. 9, once again on the fairway of True Blue Golf Club (Par 72). Fricker seeks to continue his hot streak and lead the Pirates to a strong finish across the two remaining rounds of play.
