If you would have told me in my junior year of high school that I would be a part of the editorial board of one of the top, award-winning collegiate newspapers, I would have never believed you.
I fell in love with the art of photography as early as sixth grade, but I decided to start taking it seriously at the age of sixteen through my high school’s newspaper program. There was something so intoxicating about playing with angles and lighting to capture the perfect moment through my lens; a moment frozen in time to be shared over and over again.
Having the chance to be a staff photographer for the Setonian, and then working my way into the assistant editor of the photo section, has been one of the most exciting and fulfilling aspects of my college experience. I love being surrounded by so many talented photographers within my section that inspire me and incite creativity within my work for every photo assignment I am given.
Through the Setonian, I have been given amazing opportunities, such as being able to sit courtside and photograph the men’s basketball team at their biggest game of the year versus Rutgers. I was also granted the chance to photograph A-list celebrities like Rae Sremmurd at last year’s spring concert.
While I will take the memories of all of these events with me long after my college days, one thing I will never forget are my amazing peers who also serve as editorial board members of this prestigious newspaper. Getting to read the articles, examine the photos, and watch the hard work and dedication my fellow board members possess has to be my favorite moment of the week without a doubt. I have never met a more talented group of individuals than I have through the members of the Setonian. Not only are they talented within the paper, but they are also some of the best people I have met through my journey at Seton Hall.
I have met lifelong friends through this position that I can confidently say I will take with me after graduation. It is such an honor and privilege to not only be a part of the Setonian, but to serve on the paper’s 100th editorial board. As a senior, I will forever cherish my time with the Setonian and will greatly miss it post graduation.
