Campus Ministry hosts “Make 1 Take 1” charity event

Seton Hall’s Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) and Campus Ministry held its weekly “Make 1 Take 1” event in Boland Hall’s Campus Ministry lounge on Feb. 15.

At this event, students volunteer and make sandwiches that are brought to St. John’s Soup Kitchen, located in Newark. After making a sandwich, volunteers receive a free grilled cheese sandwich and are eligible to receive community service hours.

DOVE volunteer and work study student Nimmy Roy, a sophomore behavioral science and Catholic studies double major, expressed the importance of events like this on campus.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for students to just take a break from their academics and their school stresses and just spend time, come and hang out here and talk to other people,” Roy said.

Roy said it is important that events like Make 1 Take 1 welcome all students because it is vital to Seton Hall’s mission and community.

“We are doing something good, and Seton Hall really values and promotes the full servant leader aspect, so, through DOVE, you are really promoting that,” Roy said.

DOVE and Campus Ministry aim to promote volunteer efforts and students who serve others through events held on and off campus. Students can browse and register for volunteer opportunities through DOVE’s Engage page.

Make 1 Take 1 occurs weekly on Wednesdays from 12:30-1:30 p.m in the Campus Ministry lounge. The next Make 1 Take 1 will occur on Feb. 22.
