When it comes to post-graduate employment, Seton Hall has been ranked No. 1 among New Jersey private schools, according to career resource aggregate Zippia. Overall, Seton Hall ranks No. 5 in New Jersey.
Zippia, a platform that helps recent graduates and others search for jobs directly associated with their major or a specific company, gathered data from College Scoreboard Data and IPEDS to build their list. With a 92.55% rate of employment, Seton Hall ranked higher than Rutgers, Princeton and Stevens Institute of Technology.
During the study, Zippia centered the data on only 30 public and non-profit colleges in New Jersey. Using this information, the colleges were ranked using the highest job placements for graduates of each school.
Alyssa McCloud, vice president for enrollment management, said that Seton Hall students played an important role in the ranking.
“Seton Hall students are in demand and regarded as the top talent in their field,” she said. “This is a testament to our rigorous academics, the high-quality interactions with faculty, close mentorship and the hard work of our career center and of course the wonderful internship opportunities students have which make them so competitive.”
Zippia’s ranking came shortly after Seton Hall was named among one of the top 12% of colleges for mid-career alumni salary of $103,800, according to research by PayScale, Inc., a compensation data company.
Many attributed Seton Hall’s recent ranking to the services provided in the Career Center.
Matthew Pressman, an assistant professor of journalism, said that the work done at the Career Center is wonderful and helps many students. “The Career Center does such a terrific job of helping students find and prepare for the careers that they want,” Pressman said.
The Career Center offers a variety of resources for students to seek career coaching, to network with professionals, and to prepare for the career they want. With services like on-campus interviews, resume critiques, career fairs and recruitment events, students have access to multiple tools right on campus.
“Gina from the Career Center was great. She showed me how to find internships, how to start looking for jobs that I am interested in,” Shannon McHugh, a sophomore creative writing major, said. “With a small major, it is really helpful because it shows that they really care and that’s why I picked Seton Hall.”
The Career Center also offers advising for graduate programs and helps students who hope to go to graduate school. Resources on application deadlines, interviews, financial aid and general information is available.
Seton Hall has also been recognized for many other honorable rankings, including “Top Colleges in America” by the Princeton Review; a “Best College for your Money” by Money magazine; a “College of Distinction” and a Forbes “Top College in America.”
