Men’s soccer adds three midfield transfers

To kick off 2019, the men’s soccer program is beginning to bolster its roster for the upcoming season.

Andreas Lindberg continued his fierce recruitment campaign, adding Vittorio Argeri, Ramez Bakhtari and Ferdinand Solberg to his roster. The trio will work with the team throughout the spring and then join game action in the fall.

Argeri is the most familiar face to Lindberg, as he spent the 2017 under his guard at LIU Post. A native of Genoa, Italy, is a crucial addition to the midfield to the Pirates, much like the other two are.

In two seasons at LIU Post, Argeri played 29 games and accumulated nine goals and 14 assists. Although different conferences provide for different results, Argeri’s scoring touch will be a key additional to a team where the leading scorer, CJ Tibbling, had six goals and 14 points. Lindberg is familiar with Argeri’s strengths and will surely put him in the best position to help the program in 2019 and beyond.

The next best for Seton Hall in 2018 was Carlton McKenzie, who had three goals and seven assists.

Bakhtari transfers in from George Mason, where he spent two seasons. In his time there, Bakhtari played in six games but did not register a point.

Although he hasn’t put up overwhelming numbers at the collegiate level, Bakhtari had an outstanding high school career in Virginia. In his time there, he was a captain for two years as well as an All-Conference, All-Region and All-Met player.

Solberg continues Lindberg’s trend of bringing in Scandinavian players to Seton Hall. The third Norwegian to join the roster, Solberg too brings consistency to the midfield. Coming in from Florida Atlantic, he was an All-Freshman team player in his initial season.

In his freshman year, Solberg also started 15 of the 16 games in which he played, totaling 1,264 minutes on the pitch.

The midfield position is a clear area of concern for Lindberg, and thus he added the trio. Many of his key players from last season in that position, including Francisco Alderete, Spencer Burkhardt and Tomas Greco, among others, graduated from the program.

Argeri, Bakhtari and Solberg, who are a senior, junior and junior, respectively, will help fill that gap.

After going 6-7-2 with drastic improvements in Lindberg’s first season, the team will look to build upon that with its new players and obtain a winning record for the first time since 2006.
