Swimming and diving finds mixed results at WVU Tri-Meet

The Seton Hall men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams came home with mixed results after the WVU Tri-Meet this past weekend. The men’s team defeated Xavier, 168-119, but fell to host West Virginia, 235-64, whereas the women’s team lost to both Xavier, 176-111, and West Virginia, 217-82. Despite being on the losing end in three of the four matches, many Seton Hall swimmers found individual success at the meet. On the men’s side, Joe Gibson won the 1000-meter freestyle with a time of 9:46.12 and finished third in the 500-meter freestyle at 4:40.11. Josh Tosoni finished third in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke swims with times of 57.54 and 2:05.13, respectively. [caption id="attachment_24630" align="aligncenter" width="838"] Photo via SHU Athletics[/caption] Ben Puglessi came in fourth in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 52.48. Additionally, Dakota Williams finished third in the 50-meter freestyle at 21.24 and fourth in the 100-meter freestyle at 47.10. Among the bright spots for the women’s team was Lexi Kolodgie, who finished in second place in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke events. Sara Ouellette took third in the 200-meter breaststroke and Courtney McCardle finished third in the 100-meter freestyle and fourth in the 50-meter freestyle. Theresa Hutton placed fifth in the 100-meter backstroke. Both the men’s and women’s teams each return to action on Oct. 27 against Drexel University.
