The Seton Hall women's soccer team dropped its final game of the season, 2-0, to the Marquette Golden Eagles.
The Pirates paid homage to seven players before kick-off, with Sarah Cortes, Laura Dramis, Lauren Hall, Katie Landes, Ryann Ramirez, Andrea Palermo and Ana Zadro, a few of whom were part of head coach Rick Stainton's first recruiting class, suiting up in the blue and white for the last time.

"They've put in everything they can and put in all the effort that we asked of them," Stainton said. "I'm ultra-proud of them."
Energized from the pre-game ceremonies, the Hall came out of the gate firing with a few early runs on goal. The Pirates would be rewarded for their aggressiveness with an advantage in shots going into the break, but found themselves behind in the category which matters most: goals.
The first tally of the game for the Golden Eagles was off the foot of their leading scorer, Carrie Madden. The goal came right off the back of a Pirate attack when Kylie Sprecher found the streaking Madden, who placed the ball into the net with composure to put the visitors on the board in the 22nd minute.
The second half of the game played out much like the first with the Pirates paying the price for failing to capitalize on their chances. The Golden Eagles got their insurance goal in the 63rd minute off a corner kick, with Marquette sending in a corner kick which was inadvertently put into the net by a Seton Hall defender.
As time ticked off the clock and the Pirates season wound down, Stainton made sure to get his players moving on the ovation they deserved, making a handful of substitutions in the games' final minutes.
The loss ends the season for Seton Hall, with the Pirates final overall record at 0-12-5, and their conference mark at 0-6-3.
Despite the tough couple months, coach Stainton believes that the results did not show how well his team competed.
"I'm a firm believer that our record doesn't represent who we are. "We are a very competitive team that just fell a little short."
