The Seton Hall Pirates fell to George Washington Wednesday Dec. 2, 72-64.
The Hall and Colonials battled back-and-forth in the first half, trading buckets for much of the premier 20 minutes of the game.
Sophomore Desi Rodriguez led the charge for the Pirates offense early on, logging nine points at the break, leading the team. By mid-way through the opening half, the Pirates had built a 17-11 lead over the Colonials. That is when things started to unravel. George Washington would go on a 26-16 run to take a 37-33 lead at halftime, a lead it would not relinquish for the remainder of the game on its way to victory.
The Pirates hung around for the entirety of the game, however, but in the second half, the offense was mostly led by sophomore Khadeen Carrington. Carrington, who tied his career high of 20 points in a win over Georgia on Nov. 28., tallied a new career high of 21 points in the loss.

The man who has led the Pirates offense in scoring the entire season, sophomore Isaiah Whitehead, finished with just nine points in the contest.
The Pirates were not much better as a group shooting either, finishing an abysmal 2-18 from three-point range.
The Pirates hung around close enough to make a move throughout the second half, but sloppy turnovers and unsustainable offense allowed George Washington to stave off any potential comeback.
The under-four minute media timeout seemed to be the Pirates’ best chance at completing a rally, especially after a layup from Whitehead with two-and-a-half minutes left cut the deficit to three points. But a three from George Washington sophomore Paul Jorgenson put the Colonials up six on the following possession. Jorgenson finished with three of the team’s five three-pointers in the game.
Whitehead would continue to keep his team around with an acrobatic layup with just under a minute to go, but with time away the Pirates were forced to play the foul game. George Washington closed the game out from the charity stripe, knocking down six free throws in the final minute, en route to shooting 81 percent on the night.
With the loss, the Pirates fall to 5-2 on the season. The team will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 5. to take on in-state rival Rutgers in the second annual Garden State Hardwood Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Rut- gers Athletic Center in Piscataway, N.J.
