[caption id="attachment_11593" align="alignnone" width="660"] Seton Hall Athletics[/caption] The Seton Hall women’s volleyball team inched closer to the .500 mark when it took down the DePaul Blue Demons in four sets Saturday night. The Blue Demons got off to an 8-3 lead in the first set, but the Pirates were able to recover and take the first set, 25-23. The Pirates faltered in the second set, dropping it 25-20 to even the match at one set apiece. Seton Hall was able to refocus and took the third and fourth sets, each by a score of 25-18, to win the contest, 3-1. The win improves the Pirates’ record to 11-12 on the season and 5-6 in Big East play. Danielle Schroeder and Amanda Hansen led the way offensively with 15 and 11 kills, respectively. Tessa Fournier also contributed to the winning effort by producing a game-high 28 digs. Callie Huebener and Brittany Maxwell fueled DePaul’s offensive attack, as they contributed 11 and eight kills, respectively. The victory could bring confidence to the Pirates, as they came in riding a two-match losing streak while failing to chalk up a win in five of their previous seven. It is Seton Hall’s second victory over the Blue Demons this season. SHU was also able to capture a 3-0 victory back on Oct. 2. The Pirates, who sit in sixth place in the Big East after the win, will return home on Friday night to begin a three-match home stand against Georgetown, the Big East-leading Creighton Blue Jays and the Dayton Flyers.
