The Seton Hall men’s golf team finished the first day of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate in a tie for seventh with West Virginia in a 15-team field. The Hall played two rounds of golf to finish with a total score of 594, which ended up being 18-over-par, 23 strokes behind leader Missouri, who is at 5-under-par.
Lloyd Jefferson Go led the Pirates, finishing at even par through two rounds to give himself an opportunity for a victory. He shot a 1-under 71 in the morning and followed it up by shooting 1-over 73 in the afternoon. Go is currently in a tie for 10th.
Ryan Snouffer finished his first two rounds of play with a total of 145 and is 1-over-par. On his first 18 in the morning, he shot a 75, but turned it around by coming back to shoot a 2-under 70 and to put himself within striking distance of the leaders as well. He is currently tied for 13th.
Other performers for the Hall were David Cha, who finished the day with a total of 152 to put himself at 8-over-par. Kevin Sanislo finished right behind Cha at 9-over-par. Kevin O’Brien, who competed only as an individual, finished at 22-over. The last player on the team who scored is Cory Wilson, who finished at 25-over.
Just four strokes behind fifth-place Northern Kentucky, the Hall is in position to vie for a top-five team finish. Along with Go, Snouffer is in position to get an individual top-five finish as well.
The Pirates will take the course again on Monday to see if they can kick their season off on a positive note in the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.
