Dwayne “Tiny” Morton of the men’s basketball coaching staff has decided not to return to the team, according to Zach Braziller of the New York Post.

Morton had coached at Seton Hall for one season after spending 19 years as the head coach at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn. Sophomores Isaiah Whitehead and Desi Rodriguez were both coached by Morton prior to coming to Seton Hall.
“I had a great experience at Seton Hall working with Coach Willard, my fellow assistant coaches and our student-athletes, but my passion for teaching is strong, and I feel that is where I should be,” Morton said. “I wish Seton Hall all the best and am excited to watch the program continue its rise.”
According to Braziller, Whitehead remains fully committed to Seton Hall despite the departure of his former high school coach, who plans on returning to his old job as a math teacher in Coney Island.
“I want to thank Dwayne for his contributions to our program over the last year,” Willard said. “He is a terrific coach and mentor for student-athletes, and I understand that he feels his calling is back in teaching. I wish him all the best as he pursues his dream job.”
Morton's son, Trevonn, was a walk-on with the Pirates last season, but did not appear in any games. The Post adds that that former SHU big man and current Fairleigh Dickinson assistant Grant Billmeier could replace the elder Morton on Seton Hall's staff following a decision to leave that was his own.
That decision came as a surprise to head coach Kevin Willard and his Seton Hall staff, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
