On Friday Feb. 20, Piratethon took place in the Main Lounge in the University Center and raised more than $9,000 for the Valerie Fund.
Piratethon is an annual charity dance marathon that Seton Hall hosts.
According to Prachi Makkar, a sophomore fianance major, Seton Hall managed to raise $9,480. Jessica Dell’Aquila, a sophomore biology major who attended the event said: “Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves. They taught us all a dance which was fun and there was hand painting and food.”
Makkar said: “we had representation from almost every single club or organization on campus and everyone stayed up and danced. We even had some of the kids from the Valerie Fund come and they loved it. It was so great to see who we were helping out and really made us all so happy to see them smile and dance with us.”
According to Makkar, donations are still open for a week and the community continues to raise money.
