The Seton Hall women’s basketball team defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday by 75-70 final.
Newark graduate student, Ka-Deidre Simmons led all players with 28 points on the evening, going 9-for-19 on the field and adding 7 rebounds and 2 steals en route to the victory over now 1-2 Penn State.
Helping the Pirates offensively was transfer from Alabama and Jersey City native Daisha Simmons, who went 3-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 on the three-point play, combing for a 12-point effort. The graduate student’s performance also included 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Pirates led 37-29 after a first half that saw the Pirates go on nine-point run to open the game’s first three minutes. The Pirates would go on a 10-point run mid-way through the half to put them up 21-7, before the Nittany Lions found some life, going on a 6-point run and pressing the Hall to just an eight-point lead.
The second half opened strong for Penn State who trailed the Pirates by only a point three minutes into the second half, thanks to a seven-point run led by junior Candice Agee and redshirted-freshmen Lindsey Spann.
Agee led Penn State with 21 points on the day, going 9-for-15 from the field and 3-for-6 at the line, while adding 2 blocks and 5 rebounds. Spann went 4-for-10 on the day and 2-for-4 at the three combining for her 12 points.
Redshirted-sophomore guard Sierra Moore had 14 points on the day, including a layup that helped Penn State draw even with the Hall, before Ka-Deidre Simmons made the three-point play to put the Hall up 45-42.
The Pirates would trade baskets at State College, Pa., where the Pirates trailed only once.
Penn State would battle to the end, down by only two points with nine seconds to go, but Ka-Deidre Simmons’ two buckets from the line that put the Hall up 75-70 would seal the road victory for the Pirates.
